About our Appointments System

General Information

All consultations are by appointment except for the "Emergency Surgeries" - Friday afternoon.

We will try to provide non-urgent appointments within 48 hours with a doctor (not necessarily a named doctor) and within 24 hours for a practice attached health professional. Please report to reception on arrival.

We would ask that only one member of the family is seen per appointment and one problem per appointment please.

Urgent problems are fitted into surgery times without an appointment when required - this may cause surgery to run late on occasions.

Urgent (Same Day) & Emergency Appointments

These are for those acute problems that can't wait for a routine advance appointment. Please see our Urgent Problems and Out of Hours page for information.

Appointments with the Practice Nurse

Our Practice Nurses are available by appointment. Information on the Health Services offered by our Practice Nurses can be found here.

Telephone Consultations

We offer telephone consultations with a GP, for follow-up discussions, advice relating to previously seen or existing conditions, medication reviews, discussion of test results, fit notes, possible reactions to medication, certain child ailments, i.e. D&V, eye problems etc. If you feel your problem could be dealt with over the telephone by a GP please request a telephone consultation. You may also be automatically offered one by the Receptionist.

You may request to see any of the doctors at the practice

lf appointments are fully booked with the doctor of your choice, you will be offered the first available appointment with another doctor. Patients are free to express a preference to see a particular doctor or nurse and should you wish to express such a preference, please advise Reception and a note will be made in your medical record.


If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment we expect at least 24 hours notice, except in extreme cases, so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

We have a STRICT policy for patients who regularly miss their appointments which may ultimately result in the removal of them/their family from the practice list.

If you cannot keep your appointment with the Doctor or Nurse, please let Reception know in good time:

  3. By Fax: Please send us a fax, see our contact page for fax numbers.
  4. In Person: Call into your surgery and let the receptionist know in person.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.
